EASY ACTIONS TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Things I Can Do to create a sustainable future where human society and nature coexist with mutual benefit, and where the suffering caused by poverty and abuse of resources is decreased.

Use fluorescent instead of incandescent light bulbs and energy efficient appliances, thus reducing waste and pollution while saving money.
Bike and use mass transit more, drive less. Walk when possible.
Plant deciduous trees in your yard (energy saving and carbon sequestration).
Choose local products with less packaging to create healthier local economies.
Look at what you consume, from T-shirts to meat to cars. Choose products produced with less environmental impact and with fair labor practices.
Recycle and watch how many bags of garbage you put out weekly — try and cut it in half.
Turn off your car engine when idling for more than 10 seconds to save money and energy and reduce pollution.
Don't run the water as you brush your teeth, shave, or soap your hands. All these little things add up.
Repair leaky faucets.
Know where your food comes from and how it was grown. Eat lower on the food chain and choose organic whenever possible.
Grow your own vegetables to eliminate packaging and transportation related pollution.
Vote in your local, state, and national elections.
