ABOUT US

The mission of A BETTER FUTURE is to promote the strategies for and the benefits of achieving a more healthy, humane, and environmentally sustainable world. The organizers want to assist you in developing more mutual understanding and collective action that will help create a better future for all. Our work arose out of the National Council for Science and the Environment’s 2003 conference, “Education for a Sustainable and Secure Future” (www.ncseonline.org/ncseconference/2003 conference) in Washington, DC.

The Center for Respect of Life and Environment (CRLE) is a partner organization in this initiative. CRLE was founded in 1986 to foster an ethic of compassion toward all sentient beings and respect for the integrity of nature (www.crle.org). This ethic urges each of us to expand our moral concern to future generations; to poor, oppressed and disenfranchised human beings; to animals, plants and the Earth as a whole. With a particular focus on higher education, religious institutions, and the Earth Charter, the Center promotes a humane and sustainable future for all members of the Earth community. CRLE is an affiliate of the Humane Society of the United States.
